Probate Services

We appreciate that the loss of a loved one is an extremely difficult and stressful time. We’ll make the legal process simple and efficient.

How much does it cost for you to assist with obtaining the Grant of Probate?

Our fees for assisting to obtain a Grant of Probate are based on how straightforward or complex the matter is. For simpler cases where no full Inheritance Tax Return is required, we offer a fixed fee of £1,500. When you need help claiming the transferable nil-rate band, the fixed fee is £2,000.

In more involved situations where you need our support with completing a full IHT Return, but no tax is payable, our fees usually range from £2,000 to £3,000. If tax is payable, and the matter is more complex, fees generally range from £2,500 to £6,500.

Note: Fees apply to estates with a valid Will and no disputes or overseas assets. This fee scale serves as a guide. For taxable estates, a time-based fee estimate or fixed rate quote can be provided to suit your specific needs.

What if I need further advice or support after obtaining the Grant of Probate?

We offer support on an hourly basis, currently charged at £220 per hour. This flexible approach works well because, in most cases, clients ask us to assist with specific tasks rather than managing the entire process. A detailed fee estimate or fixed rate quote can be tailored to your specific circumstances and the scope of the work that you would like us to carry out.

What other costs may be applicable?

There will be a number of additional costs that may need to be paid to third parties as part of the process. These are known as disbursements.

Note: Fees do not include external costs such as taxes, penalties, valuation fees, conveyancing or estate agent commission.
